by   on November 05, 2015

The Music BC Annual General meeting was held on Wednesday, November 4th at Tom Lee Music in downtown Vancouver. If you missed the meeting and would like a recap of the Executive Directors report you can view it HERE: 2015 ED Report - Music BC AGM

The AGM also marked the official announcement of Bob D’Eith’s planned departure from the organization after 14 years of service to the BC music community. The Board of directors has been working with Bob in order to ensure a smooth transition towards a restructured Music BC. We wish Bob the best in his future endeavours. Read Bob’s letter to our members, sponsors, partners, friends and associates HERE :  Music BC C.E.O/ED

We would also like to extend our congratulations to the new members of the board:

RickRick Baker - Nettwerk Records

After graduating from VCC with a Jazz Piano Performance diploma, Rick spent the next 3 years as a full-time musician.

Rick’s career as a musician-for-hire took him across Canada as well as the USA and Europe, supporting Canadian talent abroad.  On one particular tour, while stuck without a passport in Budapest, Rick made the decision to go back to school. Graduating from the Arts & Entertainment Management program at Capilano University in 2007, Rick moved directly into an internship at Nettwerk Music Group in Vancouver.  Over his eight year career at Nettwerk, Rick has been on both the label and management side of the music business.  For the past 4 years Rick has been an artist manager for acts including, Hey Ocean, K-OS, Twin Bandit, Willa, and David Vertesi.  Rick is also a partner in the Vancouver based artist service company BandWagon, which has helped launch the careers of Canadian independent artists like Twin Bandit and Rosie June. Rick has been an active part of the Peak Performance project, both as a musician and as a for hire marketing plan writer.  After his success writing the marketing plan for Kyprios 2010, Rick has been hired to write the marketing plans for other PPP competitors, including the Boom Boom’s who took 2nd place in 2011. Rick joined the PPP board of directors for the program’s final year, in 2015.

Joseph Blood Promo PicJoseph Blood - Artist

Joseph Blood is best known in Vancouver as the guitar player for indie rock band Bend Sinister. For 8 years the band has maintained a rigorous touring and writing schedule that has brought the group from finalists at the first Peak Performance Project to concerts and festivals in Montreal, Austin, Berlin, Glasgow and many more. He has worked as a for hire player for a number of other Vancouver acts including Jakalope, Nim Vind, Savvie and Jessica Beach. His experience off stage however has turned him into a resource for numerous indie acts looking for guidance on anything from applying for P2 work VISAS, booking tours, writing grant applications, collecting royalties and writing band agreements and setting up partnerships. A lifelong BC resident, Joseph has unique experience as a working musician and writer with the organizational and analytical skills required to navigate the ever changing waters of the Canadian and BC music scene.
