After graduating from VCC with a Jazz Piano Performance diploma, Rick spent the next 3 years as a full-time musician.
Rick’s career as a musician-for-hire took him across Canada as well as the USA and Europe, supporting Canadian talent abroad. On one particular tour, while stuck without a passport in Budapest, Rick made the decision to go back to school. Graduating from the Arts & Entertainment Management program at Capilano University in 2007, Rick moved directly into an internship at Nettwerk Music Group in Vancouver. Over his eight year career at Nettwerk, Rick has been on both the label and management side of the music business. For the past 4 years Rick has been an artist manager for acts including, Hey Ocean, K-OS, Twin Bandit, Willa, and David Vertesi. Rick is also a partner in the Vancouver based artist service company BandWagon, which has helped launch the careers of Canadian independent artists like Twin Bandit and Rosie June. Rick has been an active part of the Peak Performance project, both as a musician and as a for hire marketing plan writer. After his success writing the marketing plan for Kyprios 2010, Rick has been hired to write the marketing plans for other PPP competitors, including the Boom Boom’s who took 2nd place in 2011. Rick joined the PPP board of directors for the program’s final year, in 2015.
