The Sound Recording Pilot Program is the first program to launch the new $15 million BC Music Fund, which is supported by the Province of BC and administered by Creative BC.
The pilot program is designed to strengthen the province’s sound recording industry and to help BC studios attract Canadian and international business for long term sustainability.
Creative BC will launch a full complement of programs in the areas of music company development, live music performance, distant location tour/export market development, and industry development, to stimulate the economy and serve BC’s diverse music sector.
A schedule for the launch of additional programs will be announced on October 18th, 2016.
This pilot program supports the development of the sound recording sector in BC. Record labels or other eligible applicants can apply for a non-recoupable grant to cover 50% of sound recording expenses in BC, to a maximum of $75,000. Sound recording budgets must be $3,000 or higher.
Applications will be evaluated on a first come, first served basis until the $500,000 budget is fully committed for this program, or until November 30, 2016, at which time Creative BC will reassess the structure of the Sound Recording Pilot Program.
