Music BC's How-To Series Presents: HOW TO TOUR THE U.S.A. Sunday March 8th, 1-4pm VSO School of Music, 834 Seymour St.  Featuring: Nick Blasko, Manger - Amelia Artists Josh Lindgren, Agent - Billions Liana White, Executive Director - Canadian Federation of Musicians John Farrey - Recording Academy PNW Chapter  In this session we will look at everything an artist needs to know to book and play shows in the USA! From VISAs and crossing the boarder, to where to play and how to promote yourself, we've got experts on hand to help show you all the steps along the way. NICKNick Blasko - Amelia Artists Inc. / Atomique Productions Ltd. Born and raised in Victoria BC, and now dividing his time between New York City and Vancouver Island, Nick Blasko is the co-founder and current Managing Director of Amelia Artists Inc. Principle clients include Tegan and Sara and Buck 65 (Richard Terfry), both signed to Warner Brothers Records, along with newcomers Gold & Youth, Flash Lightnin' and Luluc.  In addition to his management duties, Nick has spent the last decade plus, promoting concerts with his Vancouver Island-based firm, Atomique Productions Ltd. Atomique produces over 150 shows a year in Victoria. Recent large-scale festival projects include Rifflandia Festival, Rock The Shores and Phillips Backyard Weekender.
joshJosh Lindgren - Billions Josh Lindgren is an agent at The Billions Corporation’s Seattle office. At Billions, he has worked on over four-thousand shows including tours for Death Cab for Cutie, Beach House, The Postal Service, The Head and the Heart, Spiritualized, and more, in venues from Madison Square Garden to the Hollywood Bowl. He is currently growing his personal roster with both musicians and live podcasts such as Stuff You Should Know, My Brother My Brother and Me, RISK, and NPR’s Bullseye with Jesse Thorn. In addition to working in North America, he has booked shows in Asia, Australia, Europe, and South America. He studied Philosophy and Neuroscience at Grinnell College and completed a fellowship in Bioethics at Georgetown University Medical Center.
LIANA_WHITELiana White  - Canadian Federation of Musicians Liana White is the Executive Director of the Canadian Federation of Musicians. White has worked for the CFM [then AFM Canada] since 1996, starting as the CFM as the Artist Immigration Administrator. Now, having nearly 20 years of cross border related services to musicians, White has become recognized within the music industry as an authority on the legal requirements for musicians performing in the United States and Canada as temporary workers. White’s vast artist-immigration experience is often called upon by mainstream media and music industry associations. Highlighting only some of White’s recognition and achievements: her articles and experience have been featured in Canadian Musician and Songwriters magazines; she has been interviewed by CBC radio, Global TV and for CIRRA’s educational series: The New Indie [vol. II, and, III not yet released]. White has also conducted many workshops and panels for many music industry associations and conferences across Canada.
JOHNJohn Farrey - Recording Academy PNW Chapter John is the Membership & Project Manager for The Recording Academy Pacific Northwest Chapter. He works directly with Voting Members of the GRAMMY® Awards to produce professional development events across the Pacific Northwest. At Onto Entertainment, John worked as an admin assistant and tour manager for Fences, Hey Marseilles and the Lumineers. He co-founded Pop Sells Management in 2013 with a roster of clients including Pompeya (Russia), Palmbomen (the Netherlands), and Midnight Magic (Brooklyn). In event production, John has handled advancing and logistics for Bumbershoot 2013 , and recently booked the inaugural Rock ‘N’ Roll ½ Marathon in Vancouver.
