Music BC’s Jumpstart Grants Program is back, and officially open for applications!
Jumpstart Grants will assist BC-based, for-profit music businesses in hiring a summer apprentice aspiring to work in the music business. This program promotes hands-on training through a 10-20 hour/week part-time work placement, coupled with invaluable industry mentorship, with the overarching goal of fostering pathways toward full-time employment in the industry.
At Music BC, education is a cornerstone of our mission. Offering valuable learning experiences through work experience and mentorship is a primary way we hope to equip individuals with the tools to achieve excellence in their music career path.

NELL SMITH MEMORIAL FUND The Nell Smith Music Fund will empower young musicians who share Nell’s dedication to pursuing a music career. It will provide grants and other support helping promising artists overcome financial barriers and achieve their dreams. The Smith family aims to raise $100,000, and give away $10,000 for the next ten years to deserving young artists. Their mission is to ensure that Nell’s memory inspires others to chase their passion for music with the same joy and determination she embodied. LEARN MORE
FIRST PEOPLES’ CULTURAL COUNCIL: MUSIC PROGRAM The FPCC Music Program is now open for applications. The Music Program supports the development of B.C. First Nations music creatives and professionals residing in B.C. through grants and training programs. COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL YVR: CRA TAX VIRTUAL WORKSHOP The Community Arts Council of Vancouver is hosting a free tax workshop with a Liaison Officer from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). This workshop will offer guidance to small businesses, self-employed individuals including artists to help meet your tax obligations. The Liaison Officer will help ensure that you understand your tax obligations and are aware of possible tax deductions. APPLY FOR M FOR MONTREAL Artist submissions are now open for the 20th edition of M for Montreal, taking place November 19-22, 2025. Music BC is very excited to be returning to this highly anticipated event for another year! This event features a series of conferences that bring together local and international music industry professionals.
