ARC 2024 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Applications are now open for BC’s very own intensive artist accelerator program, ARC!

ARC highlights, nurtures, and sends into orbit the exciting, diverse voices that beat in BC. This multi-stage program will advance the business, creative, and technical skills of recording artists to help them build sustainable careers in the music industry—both at home and away. Led by a faculty of music industry professionals, participants will benefit from decades of experience and success within the music business.

ARC Alumni include: Amanda Sum, The Bankes Brothers, FKA Rayne, Maddie Storvold, Sadé Awele, Teon Gibbs, Emma Kade, KAPOK, Prado Monroe, Wallgrin, Vox Rea, the della kit, Winona Forever, TYA, Kate Yahn, Zoey Leven, Serena Sun, Post-Modern Connection, Nimkish, Nicky MacKenzie, Missy D, Mikey Jose, Matt Storm, Lush Fleece, Kimmortal, JJ Adrian, Glass Forest, Desirée Dawson, DACEY and Bridal Party.

MUSIC BC TRAVEL GRANT WORKSHOP

Music BC’s travel grants are currently open for Artists and Businesses! After two successful info sessions in 2023, we are pleased to be hosting another session with Nancy Lee!

Nancy is a Grant Coach, Event Producer, Curator, and Community Organizer based in Vancouver, BC. They are also a talented Filmmaker and Multi-Media Artist, as well as one of Music BC’s Jumpstart Career Consultants. Nancy will be bringing their high-level experience in fundraising for artists and creative projects to this informative session, while the Music BC team guides you through the process of the application and answers attendee questions.

Artist and Business Travel Grants:

  • Application Deadline: May 17th, 2024 at 5:00 PM (PST)
  • This deadline will be accepting applications to support initiatives that take place between April 1st, 2024 and September 30th, 2024

UPCOMING DEADLINE: AWARD FOR AUDIO EXCELLENCE

Aspiring audio engineers – the deadline for the Olivia Quan Award for Audio Excellence is tomorrow!

This scholarship is for the future generations of young people pursuing a career in audio to learn from and be inspired by Olivia’s achievements and dedication to her craft. One (1) participant will be awarded $5000 each year of the award.

Music BC is handling applications for this award, however the family and close friends of Olivia will personally choose the recipient and issue the award.

CALL FOR INTEREST: A2IM INDIE WEEK, NEW YORK

We’re excited to announce that Music BC will be participating in A2IM Indie Week 2024, set to take place in New York City from June 10-13, 2024.

This mission presents a fantastic opportunity for labels and managers to connect with key international contacts across various industries, with a special focus on engaging with A2IM’s US members.

If you’re interested in being considered for this invaluable experience, we will be selecting two to three BC-based businesses to join Music BC’s delegation at A2IM. Kindly fill out the “Expression of Interest” form at the link below.

Want to be a part of shaping the next ARC Artist Accelerator cohort? Our jurors will be among dozens of other industry professionals working in artist development, including label representatives, managers, producers, and talent buyers among others. This is a volunteer jury, taking an estimated 3 hours of time to complete adjudication duties. Applications from all genders, cultural backgrounds, ethnicities and other measures of diversity are highly encouraged. Applicants are not limited to being from BC.

APPLY FOR DO IT FOR THE CULTURE FESTIVAL 
Do It For The Culture Festival and Conference is a 3-day conference-style event hosted in Kelowna, BC, June 14-16th, and presented by 100 Collective. The festival is a pivotal event for celebrating and advancing Canadian Hip Hop, R&B, and Afrobeat music culture, serving as a vital platform for both emerging and established artists. The festival features a diverse array of artists, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and contemporary vibrancy styles.

POP Montreal is returning September 25th – 29th, 2024, and is accepting applications for artists! For musicians and artists, fans, curators, critics, record labels and industry, POP Montreal is the North American festival that provides a dynamic introduction to the next generation of musical talent and independent art forms.

APPLY FOR THE OHSOTO’KINO MUSIC INCUBATOR
The OHSOTO’KINO Music Incubator is a five-day artist development intensive for Indigenous artists in Canada. Each year, six Indigenous artists will converge at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre, to learn new skills, connect with music industry experts from across the country, and to hone their craft and professional chops. This program will take place from Monday, September 30 to Friday, October 4, 2024.

APPLY FOR THE JULES LÉGER PRIZE FOR NEW CHAMBER MUSIC
Awarded annually, the Jules Léger Prize for New Chamber Music is a competition for professional composers and sound creators from Canada, designed to encourage the creation of new chamber music. To be in the running for this prize, you must submit an application to the Canada Council for the Arts.

Join Women in Music BC on the evening of Sunday, April 28 at The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver for an insightful panel and songwriters circle moderated by Kristina Lao, featuring award-winning composer Mary Ancheta, seasoned swoon rock artist Alexandria Maillot, and Jenny Lea of hip-hop girl group NADUH.

ANJU SINGH IS HIRING AN ASSISTANT PRODUCER
A recent recipient of Music BC’s Jumpstart Grants program, Anju Singh is looking to expand her multi-faceted music and event production company by bringing on a summer apprentice. The AP will work closely with artists, bands, booking agents, publicists, and venues to support company work. The AP will also be a key contributor to the company brand development project with exciting and creative opportunities to help contextualize and situate the company in the music community.
