In just over a month Music BC returns to M For Montreal and is proud to present 2 BC artists as official selections for this unique event. M for Montreal takes over the heart of the city from November 16 – 19. Learn more about the BC artists representing at the festival and conference this year:
C. Diab: Vancouver-based bowed guitarist and trumpeter Caton Diab creates ambient compositions that evoke and are inspired by the wilderness of his childhood in Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. Incorporating Folk/Folk overtones and soothing experimentation into his approach, he deploys what the renowned magazine The Wire calls “Ambient music in the best sense – music for living, which can be both non-invasive and immersive.” He will release a fifth album in 2023 on the London-based label Injazero.
Kamikaze Nurse: “Music as thought noise,” is something that can be said in the case of Vancouver Quartet Kamikaze Nurse. They are thought-provoking. Whether it’s because of their debut album ‘Bucky Fleur’ was a reference to philosopher-activist Simone Weil or because they’re sometimes labeled “Delusion Rock”. Combining noise pop, indie rock and post-punk in expansive pieces, their second album ‘Stimuloso’ was released last June under the cult B.C. label Mint Records.
Thank you to Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, FACTOR and the Government of Canada for their support in M For Montreal.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Maude is a bilingual artist born in Montreal where she spent her first 6 years before moving to Vancouver. Finding her own sound, she merges soft melodies, cinematic synths, and vulnerable lyrics into one world. Her indie/alternative style combines themes of love and loss in the context of past memories and ones in the making. Maude explores the dualities of human connection and the contrast between feelings of security and vulnerability which are themes that are explored throughout her debut EP “Intertwine”
