After two years of research and community input, a Music Strategy and Action Plan for Central Okanagan has been created to help guide the local music industry towards a more accessible, collaborative, diverse and inclusive future.
Initiated in the fall of 2019, the Central Okanagan Music Strategy (COMS) is a community-led initiative for the communities of Lake Country, Kelowna, West Kelowna, Westbank First Nations and Peachland.
Within the Strategy is information on the next steps, implementation, and the short and medium term priorities with priority one being to set up a “Music Action Committee” (MAC) along with a local advisory group.

MEMBER OF THE WEEK
Jonny Tobin is a GRAMMY-nominated, multi award-winning keys player, producer, and beatmaker based in Canada. His tunes have been transmitted through the underground radio waves all over the world, and his keys and production have graced tracks from independent artists like NYC-based Sarah Kang to acclaimed electronic producer Trian Kayhatu to breakout hip-hop artist D. Smoke.
Jonny’s original music is inspired by the sounds and feelings of hip-hop, electronic music, Saturday morning cartoon/cereal combos, pixelated 90’s video games, and 3AM drives. It’s familiar, funky, and futuristic – giving a sense of deja vu while crafting a forward-thinking and trippy sound.
