Music BC Welcomes Scott Johnson as Executive Director
Music BC is thrilled to welcome Scott Johnson as the organization’s new Executive Director.
Scott previously served as Music BC Board President and brings more than 20 years of music industry experience across artist development, partnerships, and industry relations. Most recently, he held senior commercial and partnership roles at Warner Music Canada, where he supported Canadian artists and helped grow the company’s digital business nationally.
A longtime advocate for the BC music community, Scott has played an active role in industry development initiatives including the BC Music Fund and previously served as Vice Chair of the Western Canadian Music Alliance (BreakOut West). As both a music industry professional and musician, he brings a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing BC artists and music businesses.
As Executive Director, Scott will work closely with Music BC’s Board of Directors, staff, members, funders, and partners to continue advancing the province’s music industry through advocacy, programming, industry development, and strategic partnerships.
“Music BC plays a critical role in supporting and connecting BC’s music sector, and I’m honoured to take on this role,” said Johnson. “As both a music industry professional and musician, I care deeply about the artists, creators, and organizations that make BC’s music sector so vibrant. I’m excited to work alongside the Board, staff, members, and partners to support the next chapter of growth for the organization.”
The Board would also like to thank outgoing Executive Director Lindsay MacPherson for her years of leadership and dedication to Music BC. During her tenure, Lindsay helped guide the organization through a period of significant growth and industry change while championing programs, partnerships, and advocacy efforts that have strengthened BC’s music ecosystem.
Please join us in welcoming Scott to Music BC and thanking Lindsay for her contributions to the organization and the broader music community.
