Haleluya Hailuhas managed to turn the stress and angst of growing up and not recognizing yourself into music that anyone could see themself in. Growing up in Burnaby, BC, the moment she could use her voice for anything, it was always to share stories and art. By the time she had finished her highschool years she was a former radio host, activist and beginning to start to find a musical voice.
Generational guilt, heartbreak and working on your selfesteem. “forgive me”, Hailu’s first major single since herdebut EP, is a translation of motherly advice shared to Hailu in a pop music form. Being the daughter of Ethiopianimmigrants, religion and prayer has been a big part of her childhood. The song is a transition from the sound of her last project and future sound.
