​International & Domestic Showcase Opportunities

Music BC has showcased several BC artists across the globe with our partners at CIMA (Canadian Independent Music Associations), Export Canada, BreakOut West and FACTOR. These initiatives also support music industry professionals to expand business opportunities.

Note: A submission via our Export Expression of Interest Form is NOT an application to any of the initiatives listed; Interested individuals must also apply directly to the initiative in question.

Export-Ready Artist Criteria

To be considered an export-ready Canadian artist, you should meet the following criteria:

Commercially Released Music:

• At least one sound recording commercially available to the general public in Canada.
• At least one sound recording commercially available to the general public outside of Canada.

Note: “Commercially available” means offered for sale/consumption via physical or digital retail, streaming, or radio. Music only available at live performances does not qualify.

Professional Support Team:

• A professional support team including at least one of the following: artist manager, record label, booking agent, publicist, or publisher, OR
• If you are completely independent, you must have a strong history of self-managed tours, releases, and promotional activities.

Industry Recognition & Live Presence:

• Demonstrated public and industry recognition through indicators such as radio play, video play, web hits and streams, music press, blogs, and/or awards.
• A consistent history of live performances and active engagement within your local market.

These criteria are designed to identify artists who are well-positioned to expand their reach internationally and secure global opportunities for their music.
