ANNOUNCING TORONTO “COME TOGETHER SHOWCASE”

We’re heading to Toronto in a few short weeks to showcase two BC artists alongside acts from across Canada in a new collaborative initiative called “Come Together”.

We are thrilled to be partnering with Alberta Music, Sask Music, Manitoba Music, Music Nova Scotia and Music Ontario along with CIMA on this coast-to-coast showcase and industry networking event aimed to help bring the Canadian music community together under one roof for the first time since before the pandemic.

ARTIST APPLICATIONS: TREEFORT MUSIC FESTIVAL

Treefort Music Festival is an annual event that takes place in the heart of Boise, ID. This March we are excited to be returning to Treefort along with a contingent of BC artists. Interested in being considered to perform this March? Applications are now open for Treefort via the link below.

YouTube Music Reveals Changes for Canada-Based Users — Including an Audio-Only Free Version
Earlier this month, YouTube Music announced plans to make background listening available to ad-supported users in Canada. Now, possibly in response to criticism from paid subscribers, the Google-owned streaming service has elaborated on its upcoming changes – including by making clear that free users will only have access to audio. READ MORE
Spotify expects to have over 400M users by the end of the year
Spotify now has 172 million paid subscribers and 381 million monthly active users, the company announced today in its latest earnings release. That’s up from 165 million paid subscribers and 365 million monthly active users last quarter, with both figures up 19 percent year-over-year. Amazon Music Unlimited Users Can Now Stream Spatial Audio On Any Pair Of Headphones
Amazon first introduced spatial audio in 2019, but it was limited to a small number of devices. With this latest expansion, spatial audio will work with any pair of headphones that a user owns.  – READ MORE
Vinyl Is Selling So Well That It’s Getting Hard To Sell Vinyl
After growing steadily for more than a decade, LP sales exploded during the pandemic. In the first 6 months of this year, 17 million vinyl records were sold in the United States, generating US$467 million in retail revenue, nearly double the amount from the same period in 2020, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. – READ MORE
Warner Music Group Is Worth $10BN More Than It Was A Year Ago

Yesterday (October 21), Warner Music Group finished the trading day with a share price of $48.06, the highest point since WMG floated a portion of its company on the NASDAQ in June 2020. According to yCharts, WMG’s share price yesterday translated to an Enterprise Value (EV) for WMG of $27.66 billion.  – READ MORE

Teo Saefkow (aka Scalawag) is a Bi, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter who brings his Northern BC music festival roots to Vancouver. His sound Harkens to the folky multi-instrumentalism of Sufjan Stevens and the broody intricate lyrics of Hozier. With the goal of disregarding genre constraints, and simply creating whatever may come.
