ARC 2024 APPLICATIONS ARE NOW OPEN!

Applications are now open for BC’s very own intensive artist accelerator program, ARC!

ARC highlights, nurtures, and sends into orbit the exciting, diverse voices that beat in BC. This multi-stage program will advance the business, creative, and technical skills of recording artists to help them build sustainable careers in the music industry—both at home and away. Led by a faculty of music industry professionals, participants will benefit from decades of experience and success within the music business.

ARC Alumni include: Amanda Sum, The Bankes Brothers, FKA Rayne, Maddie Storvold, Sadé Awele, Teon Gibbs, Emma Kade, KAPOK, Prado Monroe, Wallgrin, Vox Rea, the della kit, Winona Forever, TYA, Kate Yahn, Zoey Leven, Serena Sun, Post-Modern Connection, Nimkish, Nicky MacKenzie, Missy D, Mikey Jose, Matt Storm, Lush Fleece, Kimmortal, JJ Adrian, Glass Forest, Desirée Dawson, DACEY and Bridal Party.

MUSIC BC TRAVEL GRANTS ARE OPEN FOR INTAKE

Music BC’s second travel grant intake is now open for Artists and Businesses – including showcase, touring and business travel.

Artist and Business Travel

  • Application Deadline: May 17th, 2024 at 5:00 PM (PST)
  • This deadline will be accepting applications to support initiatives that take place between April 1st, 2024 and September 30th, 2024

NEW JUMPSTART FOUNDATIONS MODULE

An exciting new Jumpstart Module is now live, and free to access via registration through the Jumpstart Foundations portal.

Mavis Harris of Nice Marmot PR offers an introduction to key strategies for artists and music entrepreneurs to use in promoting their projects through the medium of publicity. She covers the importance of developing key PR-related assets, enhancing communication skills for interviews, having a strong and authentic brand image, and how to generally improve their visibility and reach in the music industry.

APPLY TO SHOWCASE AT M FOR MONTREAL 2024

Artist submissions are now open for the 19th edition of M for Montreal, taking place November 20-23, 2024. Music BC is very excited to be returning to this highly anticipated event for another year!

M for Montreal is an essential catalyst for the Quebec and Canadian Music Industry, both for emerging artists and artists with a career outside of Quebec. The event features a series of conferences that bring together local and international music industry professionals. It offers a rich music program of more than 100 artists at its annual gathering in November, in Montreal.

Submission Deadline: June 14th, 2024

CONGRATS TO THE 2024 WINNERS AND NOMINEES 

Congratulations to the outstanding BC winners at this year’s Juno Awards, held in Halifax, NS!

We applaud Christine Jensen for securing the Jazz Album of the Year, Felix Cartal and Karen Harding for their remarkable achievement in Dance Record of the Year, Blue Moon Marquee for their exceptional Blues Album of the Year win, and Karan Aujla for clinching the TikTok Juno Fan Choice award, who also had an amazing performance during the broadcast.

HENRY ARMSTRONG AWARD SUBMISSIONS OPEN
The Henry Armstrong Award (HAA) is a newly launched bursary and mentorship program, created to develop, elevate, and support Indigenous artists within the Canadian music industry. The award aims to provide unique opportunities for growth and development, culminating with the chosen act receiving a $10,000 bursary, along with a tailored mentorship program of professional development services.

AMPLIFY BC: INDUSTRY SURVEY 
On April 19, 2023, the Province of BC announced $22.5 million for Amplify BC, extending the Province’s music funding programs until 2027. Creative BC continues to adapt Amplify BC programs each year to meet the needs of B.C.’s music industry. We invite you to provide your feedback, and inform the evolution of Amplify BC over the next three years.
