Our ARC 2023 faculty introductions continue with our newest additions to our roster of faculty members: Jeia, and Jay Bagasbas.
Indonesian-born producer, composer and instrumentalist Jeia (pronounced: JAY-uh) is a passionate force creating vast soundscapes across all genres and timelines.Currently splitting time between Los Angeles and Toronto, Jeia’s recent credits and collaborations includes chriseanrock, Curren$y, Beenie Man, Jesy Nelson, KALLITECHNIS, Destin Conrad, Saint Harison, and more. She has worked with Grammy-winning & nominated record producers and songwriters including Tayla Parx, Tommy Brown, Bizness Boi, Internet Money, Cubeatz, Kato, The Anmls, DannyBoyStyles, Bijan Amir, and many others.
Jay Bagasbas is a non-binary filipinx settler in so-called “Vancouver”. They work as a live sound tech for local artists like Kimmortal and international artists like Jorja Smith and Jessie Reyez. Their goal in all spaces is to learn, listen, hold space, and give back to the community with the skills and experiences they’ve acquired throughout the decade they’ve spent in the industry. Jay will be working closely with ARC artists to elevate their live performances and technical knowledge.

POP Montreal has announced their full lineup of showcasing artists for 2023. Music BC is excited to participate in this year’s event and highlight some of the exceptional talent from our province!

Additional programs are also open for intake right now as well! The Music Industry Initiatives Program is accepting applications on a rolling basis until March 1, 2024, and supports initiatives that grow and develop British Columbia’s music ecosystem. The Record in BC Program is accepting applications until October 31st, 2023, and supports established out-of-province and international artists in recording at B.C. studios, and with B.C. producers.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Jeffrey Wood/Mr Fantastik is a multiple award-winning international Reggae dance hall and Afro pop artist who delivers a unique package of some of the most healing and uplifting reggae/dance hall and Afro Pop music around the world, melding R&B jazz vocal and sweet gospel harmonies over muscular contemporary reggae rhythms.
Mr Fantastik fuses African and Jamaican influences and blends them with circus acrobatics, a must-see stage show. Having spent many years travelling internationally as a circus performer and acrobat, it is not unusual to see Mr Fantastik blending his skills in reggae dance hall and afro pop.
