SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Elan Noon is the songwriting venture of interdisciplinary artist Keenan Mittag-Degala. After years of performing in various indie bands such as Jons and Loving, his focus has shifted to a more personal mode of expression. Since materializing in 2017, Elan Noon has undergone myriad transfigurations, yielding a variety of work predominantly skirting around folk, pop and jazz idioms. Preceding their latest single, “It’s Early For Halloween,” Noon’s most recent album, Caricature, explores the bounds of lower recording fidelity to a point of cheery absurdity—comprising songs recorded on deteriorating tape machines and antiquated microphones; housing existential quandaries in an uncompromisingly eerie soundscape. At present, their new single, “Incorrigible Youth,” is set to be released on June 16th, 2023.
Moreover, Mittag-Degala occasionally performs in other musical projects, including Niloo, Troll Dolly, and the nascent Hot Goss.
Reach out to info@musicbc.org if you would like to include an upcoming application or funding deadline.
