Music BC Presents: Jumpstart Talks! We are thrilled to welcome none other than Kardinal Offishall as the first Keynote speaker of our Jumpstart Talks series.

This carefully crafted discussion, led by Prevail, will showcase the impact of Hip-Hop on art, culture, and society as we commemorate its 50th anniversary.

APPLY TO PLAY RIFFLANDIA FESTIVAL

Applications to join the Rifflandia 2023 lineup are now open to BC artists! 

Established in 2008, Rifflandia Festival is one of the longest running large-scale music & arts festivals in Western Canada. The Festival continues to grow and now includes six days over two full weekends in September. A unique combination of an urban decentralized festival at Electric Avenue, with the traditional grassy field festival experience at The Park, Rifflandia welcomes over 60,000 music lovers to Victoria BC for performances by top international and national acts alongside new and emerging artists.

Artists from all genres are encouraged to apply through the form below, to be considered to perform during the festival.

Artists must be available to play on either weekend:
Electric Avenue – September 7-9, 2023
The Park – September 15-17, 2023

Submission Deadline: June 12, 2023 5:00pm PST

APPLY TO SHOWCASE AT VIFF SOUNDOFF 

Music BC and Vancouver International Film Festival are once again coming together to present SOUNDOFF: a platform for BC’s most promising local musicians, with a focus on song placement and sync licensing in film and TV. Local artists perform songs and connect with international music supervisors at this expansive yet intimate live gathering.

Submissions are being accepted now until June 22nd, 2023, and will be reviewed and curated by a jury of local industry members, VIFF and Music BC.

The showcase will take place on October 6th, 2023 in Vancouver.

APPLY TO SHOWCASE AT COME TOGETHER

We are back in Toronto this fall for a third consecutive year hosting Come Together, an initiative for artists ready to break into Canada’s largest music market. Presented by Canada’s Music Industry Associations, SODEC and CIMA. As a collective, these organizations are working together to present two days of industry showcases and meetings in Toronto this November.

Come Together is an opportunity for artists from across Canada to meet with, build business relationships, and showcase for key music industry professionals from Toronto and surrounding areas. This event has goals beyond showcasing with a push towards industry connections, team building and business strategies for both artists and businesses. Selected artists will be provided with an honorarium.

Artists must be available to perform on either of the two showcasing days (November 13th & 14th).

This new one-time Victoria Music Strategy Grant will invest directly into Victoria’s music industry. This grant program will leverage what currently exists in the local music community and address gaps in the music ecosystem such as affordable spaces for music production, rehearsal and performances.

Deezer to identify and tag AI-generated music on its service

Yesterday, Deezer made an announcement that fits neatly with the major label’s (Universal Music) goals. Vancouver-based Charlie PS has a sound that could be described as a sonic melting pot. Inspired by a wide variety of the rock and blues legends of the 20th century, Charlie borrows elements of strong vocals and energetic riffs and uses them to create her own blended sound rooted in the style of modern-rock.
