Breakout West features an immersive music industry and artist development conference, and a festival with 50+ artists performing across multiple venues. The festival highlights Western Canadian talent alongside select International and Pan-Canadian artists.

APPLY FOR THE VANCOUVER MUSIC TASK FORCE

Applications are now open for Vancouver’s inaugural Music Task Force. 

The City of Vancouver seeks people living or working in the city who want to contribute to the future of music in Vancouver, and add to the city’s cultural vibrancy. The Task Force will oversee the implementation of the Vancouver Music Strategy by City of Vancouver staff, and advise on the ongoing needs and priorities of the sector.

BC ARTISTS AT CAPITOL HILL BLOCK PARTY

Capitol Hill Block Party is an annual, three-day music festival and block party held each July in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighbourhood. Now in its 25th year, the festival is taking place July 21 – 23, 2023!

FIRST PEOPLES’ CULTURAL COUNCIL IS NOW ACCEPTING GRANT APPLICATIONS 
The First Peoples’ Cultural Council’s (FPCC) Arts Program provides Indigenous arts funding for First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists, communities and organizations in B.C. Those involved with the creation, development, production, marketing, promotion and distribution of their arts practice across all creative forms and expressions are invited to apply!

Women in Music is launching the third annual Entrepreneur Accelerator program, focused on supporting the next wave of female and gender diverse Canadian music industry leaders. Each participant will be paired with a professional mentor throughout the program, matched based on the participants’ individual goals and intensions for the program.

This January, CIMA will return to Hackney for the 2024 edition of UK Americana Music Week taking place from January 22-25. Canadian businesses and artists in attendance will get the chance to showcase their artists in front of Americana buyers and industry and have one-on-one meetings with UK industry.

CURRENT is an intersectional, multidisciplinary, music and electronic art initiative which began in 2017 as an annual multi-day event featuring artistic and educational programming for and by women, trans and non-binary people, and BIPOC artists. In 2019, CURRENT evolved into a mentorship program to nurture more cultural producers in Vancouver and beyond.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK



RAIAAN is a young pop singer-songwriter currently residing in Vancouver, Canada. Influenced by crooners such as; Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra, and storytellers like Lewis Capaldi and Ed Sheeran, RAIAAN amalgamates his smooth vocals with emotional and catchy melodies for a modern sound that pays homage to his predecessors. After working alongside a bunch of amazing artists, producers, engineers, and creators, RAIAAN has released a five song EP, while still producing and engineering for other upcoming artists on the side. He has also had some experience working with an outdoor live project called the Ice-Cream Truck Collective as the audio engineer, as well as some experience performing with a collective of artists known as “The Supermrkt Social.” RAIAAN has just released one of his singles “Melatonin” featuring Desirée Dawson, as part of his upcoming album “Love-Notes” coming out later this year.
