Last weekend, we warmly greeted the ARC 2023 cohort from across BC as they arrived for the first component of the program; The Clinic. They spent two intensive days attending workshops with industry professionals on branding, marketing, revenue streams, touring, export, business planning and more. Next up: The Retreat! Artists will soon spend a week away focusing on collaboration, songwriting, recording, live performance, vocal coaching, mental health and more.
ARC is made possible through the ongoing support of Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, FACTOR and the Government of Canada, and Stingray.
We held our first Jumpstart Talks event on June 17th, 2023 at Fortune Sound Club, and had the privilege of hosting Kardinal Offishall as our special guest. Prevail led an inspiring discussion, which highlighted the influence of Hip-Hop on art, culture, and society, in honour of its 50th anniversary.
You can now watch the full talk on our YouTube channel!
Thank you to Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, as well as ADVANCE, Canada’s Black Music Business Collective for making this event possible.
Vancouver Pride Weekend is coming up soon, but Pride celebrations all over British Columbia have been happening since June and will continue until the end of August.

SPOTLIGHT OF THE WEEK
Poncho is my stage name, but officially I’m known as Eric Ansah Acheampong. I moved from Ghana in West Africa to permanently settle in Canada and never left my music behind. I started my music career professionally in 2020 and out with six singles. All these songs can be considered under afrobeat but have a feel of reggae and highlife sound in them.
Before moving to Canada in 2022, I was nominated in the Ghana Music Awards USA as an emerging artist . Now that I’ve relocated to Canada, I still have the aspirations to take my music to a larger audience in and out of Canada.
Reach out to info@musicbc.org if you would like to include an upcoming application or funding deadline.
