MUSIC BC TRAVEL GRANTS 

Music BC’s travel grant deadlines are open for Artists and Businesses – including showcase, touring and business travel.

2024 Application windows are as follows:

Artist and Business Travel – Intake #1 

  • Applications Open: October 12th, 2023
  • Application Deadline: January 12th, 2024 at 5:00 PM (PST)
  • This deadline will be accepting applications to support initiatives that take place between October 1st, 2023, to March 31st, 2024. Please see the next intake if your activity falls after this timeframe.

Artist and Business Travel – Intake #2 

  • Applications Open: March 18th, 2024
  • Application Deadline: May 17th, 2024 at 5:00 PM (PST)
  • This deadline will be accepting applications to support initiatives that take place between April 1st, 2024, to September 30th, 2024.

Please Note: We will not be accepting applications between these windows.

APPLY TO BECOME A JUROR WITH MUSIC BC

Music BC is seeking creative professionals and music industry representatives to join our juror roster for 2024. 

Our jurors will provide insight and feedback on our Music BC Travel Grants. A juror honorarium will be provided. 

We are committed to providing a jury that reflects the diversity of our province and the creative industry – including gender identity, sexuality, heritage, age, ethnicity, religious background, region, accessibility and socio-economic status.

BC ARTISTS AT COME TOGETHER TORONTO

We are thrilled to once again be hosting Come Together, Canada’s Coast-to-Coast Artist Showcase & Industry Reception, presented by Music BC, Alberta Music, SaskMusic, Manitoba Music, Music Ontario, Music Nova Scotia, SODEC and CIMA.

Now in its 3rd year, Come Together has become a highly anticipated, annual initiative for artists who are ready to break into Canada’s largest music market of Toronto, ON. 

We are pleased to be showcasing BC artists, Xana and Pastel Blank on Tuesday, November 14th. 

This event is private and by invitation only. If you are in Toronto on either of these dates and wish to attend, please email our Program Manager, Nicolle Dupas at nicolle@musicbc.org

Thank you to Creative BC and the Province of British Columbia, FACTOR and the Government of Canada for helping to make this opportunity possible for BC artists.

SOCAN FOUNDATION X TD INDIGENOUS SONGWRITER AWARD
One prize of $10,000 will be offered to the award recipient. Entries submitted will be examined by a jury of prominent songwriters selected by the SOCAN Foundation. Excellence will be an overriding factor in adjudication. The jury’s decisions are final. All compositions must be submitted by applicants who are of Indigenous decent.
Application Deadline: November 15th, 2023

WOMEN IN MUSIC CANADA LEADERSHIP ACCELERATOR OPEN 
This program is intended for mid-level industry professionals, in existing music companies or entrepreneurs, with a primary goal of preparing women and gender diverse music professionals for advancement to senior management and director-level opportunities. 
Application Deadline: November 30th, 2023

APPLY FOR BC ARTS COUNCIL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANT
Professional Development grants assist professional artists, cultural practitioners, production and technical personnel, and arts administrators with specific, short-term learning activities intended to advance their practice or career.

WOMEN IN MUSIC CANADA MENTORSHIP PROGRAM OPEN
WIMC is excited to announce the launch of their National Mentorship program! Women and gender-diverse artists and industry professionals of all skill levels are invited to apply. 
Professionals from across the country are invited to apply as mentors; currently, WIMC membership is not required for mentors. Mentee applications are open to Premium WIMC Members.

Forrest Mortifee (he/him) is a transgender recording artist, ancient futurist, and creative mentor hailing from Vancouver, Canada. His interdisciplinary approach has led him to create a diverse range of works, including paintings, architectural designs, and an NFT museum of his creative process. As a songwriter, he draws from a range of influences including jazz, pop, and neo-soul, with his work having garnered 10s of millions of streams on Spotify alone.
